SERDANG, Mar 19: “Do your best work or tasks because the opportunity might only come once.”
That was the principle held by the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award winner at the 45th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony, Iskandar Zulkarnain Adamulhasza.
He said after putting in the effort, it must be followed by prayers, tawakal (trust in God), and depend on Allah.
Iskandar, 26, from the Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours programme, Faculty of Engineering, received the Chancellor's Gold Medal Award from UPM Chancellor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, at Session 1, UPM 45th Convocation Ceremony today.
He said he strived to discipline himself and always tried to do his best in all his endeavours, mainly because he was also busy and active in associations.
“I have to manage my time well, and with the time allotted for my studies and revision, I make the most of it and always strive for the best,” said Iskandar, who once held the position of Vice Yang Di-pertua (YDP) Academics and Research, Student Representatives Council (MPP), 2018/2020 session, and college president.
“Seize the opportunities, as they might only come once… and do your best,” he said.
Hailing from Kuala Lumpur and the eldest of three siblings, he said he was grateful to win the award, but at the same time, he felt nervous about meeting and receiving the Gold Medal Award from the Chancellor.
He said his success was also the fruit of prayers and support from his parents, who have always encouraged him. - UPM
