SERDANG – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) staff and students have been urged to continue strengthening cooperation and professionalism amongst themselves in driving the university's key strategies towards institutional and national excellence.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said he was confident that UPM staff and its leadership would succeed in executing the main strategies pledged in the Vice Chancellor's Narrative 2021, which are “Driving High-Tech Agriculture, Building the Character of UPM Graduates, Pioneering Smart Campus and Digitisation, Supporting the Continuity of Sustainable Institution and Strengthening the Inculcation of New Norms”.

"UPM is like a big ship in a vast ocean that requires strong support from its staff and undergraduates who are important assets with potential in achieving the set vision and mission," he said.

He added that he appreciated the professionalism shown by academic staff, administrative staff, support staff, and students who continue to support UPM's aspiration to become an outstanding university at both the national and international levels.

"This is in line with the university’s motto, ‘With Knowledge We Serve’ and the value of ‘ihsan’ that we inherited from former Vice-Chancellors, and as the current Vice-Chancellor, I strive to continue to chart out plans and strategies for UPM to become a premier educational institution," he said.

Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan also expressed hoped that UPM staff and students would continue to close ranks and enhance cooperation among themselves in pursuit of continued excellence.

"I believe that UPM staff and students will continue to prioritise the efforts towards enhancement of integrity and good governance for UPM to remain strong, holistically," he said.

Meanwhile, UPM in its response to the Ministry of Higher Education's aspiration to support the digitisation agenda through several initiatives and smart campus implementation strategies for 2021-2025, said it remained to focus on the transformation of good agricultural practices involving the use of the latest technology in line with technological developments. – UPM
