KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 – Farmlah, a company established by five Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students, has won third place at the National Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) Business Simulation Competition 2021.
The group is made of Ali Imran as the CEO, Hoh Jia Da (CFO), Muhammad Muqriz Adam Shah (COO), Marcus Edward (CMO) and Nazrul Irfanradi (CHRO).
They bagged RM3,000 in cash as well as a plaque and certificates. The prizes were presented by Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.
The competition was organised for the fourth time by the Ministry of Higher Education, and it was first held in 2013.
Ali said he and his group members had produced hydroponic products using the IoT system to facilitate the farming process, especially in urban areas.
"This business simulation has provided us with valuable experience as we had the opportunity to run a real business and interact with investors who are interested in the products created for this competition," he said.
The competition was held online for three months involving 19 IPTA nationwide. The competition aimed to enhance entrepreneurial attributes and skills, such as risk management, personnel and financial management.
Meanwhile, the participants’ soft skills, problem-solving skills, leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork, and morals and professional ethics can also be enhanced. - UPM
