MUAR, March 8 - First-year Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Education student, Norfathiah Muhamad Muzzamil and her family, affected by a fire last February, received a donation from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) today.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman met and assisted Fathiah and her family at Lorong Haji Turot, Parit Sakai Darat, Muar Johor, today.
YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan said the donation was contributed by the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN), Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Faculty of Science and Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah College (KOSASS).
"The entire UPM community expresses condolences to Fathiah's family. We understand the heavy burden. We pray that she and her family will be relieved of all their troubles and that everything will be all right.
"We hope that the financial assistance, food necessities and a laptop for Fathiah can alleviate some of her and her family's burdens," he said.
Meanwhile, Fathiah, the eldest of six siblings, said when the fire broke out, she was waiting for her parents to pick her up from the UPM residential college.
"When I got home, my house had already been destroyed by fire, and my father couldn't pick me up because he was busy managing the house. Fortunately, no one was injured.
"I consider this a test of my resilience to continue studying and gaining knowledge to serve my parents in the future," she said. -UPM
