KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has bagged double awards as winner and runner-up of the Selangor State Innovation Award 2022 in the Higher Education Institute (HEI) category and Information Technology cluster.
ZWallet technology, a cashless, safe and flexible application with blockchain technology and easy to operate, by Prof. Ts. Dr. Zuriati Ahmad Zulkarnain from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, won first prize under the Information Technology cluster.
Her victory allowed her to bring home a RM 10,000 cash prize and a certificate of participation.
"This victory is meaningful for me in making UPM proud, especially for FSKTM. This victory is significant in ensuring the security of every transaction through the digital wallet.
"When all digital transactions are safe to use, it will help improve the life of a digital society which is more dynamic,” she said.
Meanwhile, the NET–PEAT project: Peatland Fire Prevention and Early Warning System Using the IoT System by Prof. Ir. Dr. Aduwati Sali from the Faculty of Engineering, Wireless and Photonics Networks Research Centre (WiPNET) and Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), UPM, also won the HEI award.
The Putra Pro-Cut and Putra Fast-Snap Project: innovative apparatus for tree marcotting techniques by Rozaidi Md Yusof from the Putra Agricultural Centre won the HEI runner-up.
They each received the cash of RM 5000 (first prize) and RM 2500 (runner-up). The prizes were presented by the Selangor State Secretary, Dato' Haris Kasim, at the 3rd Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE) 2022 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) here today.
