CMCO would not stop 17th College students from making a contribution

SERDANG, Nov 23 - The Covid-19 pandemic does not dampen the spirit of the students of the Seventeenth College (K17), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), to contribute to the community by organising the programme “Can You See Your Future? (Steps To Uni @ INTESABER)”.

The programme was held on November 19, 2020 for students from Sabak Bernam Integrated Fully Residential School (INTESABER) and used online webinar as a new approach.

The programme was attended by 85 INTESABER students interested in determining direction after the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), to guide them in making career decisions and to enable them to experience the authentic study environment in a university, especially at UPM.

The programme was conducted by the counselling officer from UPM Counseling Division, Ansarul Haq Tahrir Adli, in collaboration with the Alumni and Career Secretariat, K17 Representative Council led by Teoh Jiu Yang; UPM Counseling Division, INTESABER and UPM Student Affairs Division.

Principal of the Seventeenth College, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasronita Jasni, who is also the patron of the programme, said knowledge and full preparation would ease students when planning the best place to continue their studies after SPM.

UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, said the programme is a platform to equip students with the concept of volunteering through community activities in line with UPM's motto “With Knowledge We Serve".

INTESABER Counseling Teacher, Abdul Rashid Kefele, expressed his gratitude to UPM for its contribution in organising the programme even under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and hoped that the participants could apply the knowledge learned.

The online webinar also brought a significant impact and new experience to the organisers of the community programme. It is hoped that UPM students and staff will continue to contribute regardless of the situation for common well-being. - UPM
