SERDANG, March 22- Despite working five different part-time jobs while studying for his diploma, Jackcob Petrus, 21, has managed to graduate with Diploma in Agriculture at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) 45th Convocation Ceremony today.
Financial constraint was the main reason that forced him to work while studying; however, that situation had taught him to manage his time well between working and studying. At the same time, he never neglected his role as the Vice President of the Student Council of Sri Rajang College at Bintulu Campus.
Hailing from Sabah, he could adapt to stressful situations despite fulfilling five part-time jobs.
“As someone who lives afar from home, I can solve my own problems,” he said.
Jackcob was also active at UPM Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), especially in managing events and protocols for student programmes, unlike his brother, Lawrence Petrus, a UPM rugby player.
Nonetheless, he appreciated the sweet memories with his friends at UPMKB, and he will pursue his studies in Bachelor of Agricultural Science at UPM Serdang Campus.
He became an inspiration to his siblings when he managed to further his studies at UPM.
He advised others always to have clear goals and seize the available opportunities. – UPM
