SERDANG, 9 November – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) reinforced its commitment to community wellbeing as its Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, attended the KanWork Charity Hi-Tea 2025, an event organised in collaboration with the Cancer Network Support Association (KanWork), UPM, and the UPM Alumni Association.

The event was graced by Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, who officiated the launch of KanWork’s latest publication.

Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan said UPM’s efforts to strengthen ties with the community through various health and welfare initiatives demonstrates the university’s aspiration to be a caring and sustainable institution.

“UPM believes that the fight against cancer extends beyond medical treatment. It relies equally on strong emotional, psychological and community support systems,” he said.

The annual charity programme gathered 600 attendees, including cancer patients, alumni, academics and representatives from non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The event also served as a fundraising platform to support cancer patients requiring continuous treatment, care and emotional assistance—highlighting UPM’s sustained commitment in fostering community resilience and compassion.
