SHAH ALAM, 6 April - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) which is also the charity assistant of higher education institution of the Selangor Zakat Board was chosen to receive the Muaz bin Jabal Special Award at the Selangor Zakat Board Appreciation Ceremony 2017.
The Muaz bin Jabal Special Award is a recognition of zakat institutions that have succeeded in increasing zakat collections and new zakat payers and displaying best management and innovation in zakat management throughout 2017.
The award was presented by a Member of the Selangor Zakat Board of Trustees who is also the Secretary-General of the Selangor Islamic Council (MAIS), Dato’ Bakhtiar Hussin to the Director of the UPM Zakat and Endowment Management Centre, Dr. Razali Othman, in a ceremony held at a hotel here.
The ceremony was held to recognise and celebrate collection agents and charity assistants of the Selangor Zakat Board for their commitment and contribution in the propagations of zakat and help in increasing zakat collections.
In this regard, Dr. Razali would like to thank all who have contributed to WAZAN which will distribute it to eligible ones.
“Through this recognition, WAZAN UPM is expected to move forward in its contribution to the enhancement of zakat property management,” he said.
Also celebrated at the event were representatives of audit and tax firms, corporate agents, clinics, banks, post offices, charity assistant of higher education institutions, corporate companies who are business zakat payers, and employers who make zakat payments through salary deductions for the Selangor zakat. - UPM
