SEPANG, Oct 25 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was chosen as the recipient of the ‘Research and Innovation Excellence Award’ during the 2018 Malaysia’s Rising Star Awards and CREAM (Current Research in Malaysia) Journal Recognition.
UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris accepted the award.
‘Research and Innovation Excellence Award’ is a recognition for research universities and non-research universities for their excellence in research with commercial potential based on the patents registered by the institutions.
Meanwhile, three UPM lecturers received the ‘International Research Collaboration’ awards each in the MRSA category during the ceremony.
They were Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan Salit from the Faculty of Engineering through his research titled ‘Natural Fibres; Fibres; Composite Materials; Mechanical Properties’; Prof. Dr. Taufiq Yap Yun Hin from the Faculty of Science with his research titled ‘Biodiesel, Transesterification, Esterrification, Synthetic Fuels’; and
Prof. Dr. Amin Ismail from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with his research ‘Agricultural Sciences.’
The awards were presented by the Secretary General of Ministry of Education, Dato’ Dr. Mohd Gazali Abas.
This year witnessed 18 researchers being honoured with awards in four categories: ‘International Research Collaboration’, ‘Prominent Topics in Research’, ‘Young Researcher’, and ‘High Impact Paper’. - UPM
