SERDANG, April 5 - The Laboratory of Computational Statistics and Operations Research, Institute of Mathematical Research (INSPEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have joined forces under the KTGS JINM@PTJ grant to provide exposure and knowledge to senior police officers from the Inspector General of Police Secretariat (Research and Development) on ways of conducting research, which is more accurate, current and of high quality.
The research methodology workshop (PDRM Police Officer) was held at Ulugh Beg Computer Laboratory, INSPEM, UPM and attended by 14 senior police officers ranked from superintendents to inspectors from the IGP Secretariat (Research and Development), Bukit Aman.
The workshop aimed to expose the senior police officers to the basics of research methodology through the Dewey Scientific method in research planning.
The organisation of the workshop was also a community engagement programme between INSPEM and PDRM.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lee Lai Soon, Head of the Laboratory of Computational Statistics and Operations Research, INSPEM, and Dr. Chen Chuei Yei, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, UPM, were speakers of the workshop.
Through the workshop, it is hoped that participants would be able to conduct research well and produce quality research reports that meet the research characteristics.
All in all, the workshop was well executed and achieved its objectives. Participants were committed, gave due attention and collaborated well with each other and with the speakers and the course secretariat. - UPM
