SERDANG, April 27 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organised the Earth Day 2022 Celebration at the UPM level to raise awareness of the campus community on the sustainability of the environment.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd. Roslan Sulaiman, said UPM had been working towards a clear and visionary sustainable campus to maintain UPM's reputation as the most sustainable university.
"The transition to the sustainable lifestyle can only be realised with a clear goal, and with UPM as the most sustainable university for the last 12 consecutive years, the UPM green campus agenda will be empowered," he said.
He added that the campus sustainability agenda was also driven towards the circular economy concept that focused on optimising the use of resources through continuous programmes such as rainwater collection, compost production, renewable energy generation and many more.
"UPM continues to be proactive in ensuring continuity in sustainability efforts, and I urge the campus community to continue investing and contributing goodness to the earth for the sake of future well-being and enjoyment of a quality life," he said.
In addition, the programme with the theme of "Invest in Our Planet" was held simultaneously throughout UPM to form a campus community concerned about environmental conservation.
Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Roslan also interacted with the PTJ (Centres of Responsibility) representatives involved via the Zoom application to view the initiatives that were carried out via their PTJ activities.
A total of 20 PTJs at UPM conducted sustainability activities at their respective PTJs. In addition, he launched the UPM Campus TV, PUTRA TV.
Also present were the UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Nazamid Saari; UPM Chief Librarian, Muzaffar Shah Kassim; Director of the Centre for Corporate Strategy and Relations, Prof. Dr. Azmawani Abd Rahman, as well as other Senior University Officers. - UPM
