KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 – A lecturer from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Dr. Sazlinda Kamaruzaman, has been selected as the country's young scientist by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and as the country's representative who take part in the 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany.

ASM President, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail, said the programme, which started from June 27 to July 1, is a platform for young scientists to build networks and strengthen cooperation with world-class scientists.

Dean of the Faculty of Science, UPM, Prof. Dr. Mohd Basyaruddin Abdul Rahman, said the faculty was very proud of Dr. Sazlinda’s achievements, as she represented Malaysia in attending a meeting with more than 20 Nobel Prize winners in Lindau.

"I hope that her experience in interacting with Nobel Laureates and the best young researchers around the world will drive her to build international collaboration and give an impact on other UPM young lecturers and students," he said.

It was even prouder when two UPM alumni were also selected to represent Malaysia this year.

The Faculty of Science, UPM, also has a good reputation in which lecturers, students and alumni of the faculty previously were selected to attend the most prestigious conference with Nobel Prize winners. - UPM
