SERDANG, Aug 22 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) won five gold, four silver and four bronze medals at the Invention, Innovation & Design on e-Learning (IIDEL) Competition, International University Carnival on E-Learning (IUCEL) 2019 at DeTAR Putra, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
A senior lecturer from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef, won one gold, one silver and one bronze. She bagged the gold medal for her project on Junior Data Scientist e-Portfolio Development through Challenge Based Learning Approach in Data Mining Course, the silver medal for her project on Revolutionizing Learning Environment with Artificial Intelligence and the bronze medal for her work on Education Analytics at UPM Smart Campus.
Dr. Ahmad Nasir Mohd Yusoff, a senior lecturer from the Faculty of Human Ecology, won one gold and one silver medals. The gold medal received was for his project Active Student Engagement & Improvement in Classroom Teaching Quality Through QR Code Technology and Gamification Activities based on Online and Offline Quizzes with UPM senior lecturers from the Faculty of Human Ecology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adlina Abd Halim, Dr. Arfah Ab. Majid, Dr. Normala Othman, Nashrina Samir and a high school teacher from Cyberjaya, Noralina Ali.
He won the silver medal through his project Development of PUTRA GLOBAL-T4-IMIC-GAME (PT4) ‘Boards Games Explorer’ using Augmented Reality and Gamification for University Compulsory Courses.
A senior lecturer from the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Chong Chou Min, won the gold medal for his project GamUDLearn: Integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) project and Gamification in Blended Learning. The project also involved Dr. Zarirah Mohamed Zulperi (Faculty of Agriculture), Dr. Hasliza Abu Hassim (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), Dr. Puan Chong Leong (Faculty of Forestry), Dr. Mohd Redzwan Sabran (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences), Dr. Lai Kok Song (Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences), Dr. Mohd Noor Hisham Mohd Nadzir (Faculty of Science), Dr. Mohd Hazwan Mohd Puad (Faculty of Educational Studies), Prof. Dr. Muta Harah Zakaria (Centre for Academic Development) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef (Centre for Academic Development).
Dr. Nurdiyana Ahmad Denil, a senior lecturer from UPM Bintulu Campus, also won a gold medal for her project Innovative Pedagogy by using Knowledge Clips to Enhance Student Learning Experience carried out together with Johan Ismail (UPM Bintulu Campus), Dr. Rozihan Mohamed (Faculty of Agriculture), Dr. Sheena Bidin (Faculty of Forestry), Dr. Ahmad Nasir Mohd Yusoff (Faculty of Human Ecology), Dr. Yusmadi Yah Jusoh (Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology), Nur Eliza Abdul Rahman (Centre for the Advancement of Language Competence) and Audrey Grace anak Intai, a student from UPM Bintulu Campus.
Johan Ismail, a senior lecturer from UPM Bintulu Campus, also won a gold medal for his project Design and Development of Prototype Mobile Application Integrated with Augmented Reality to Enhance Student Learning Experience. The gold medal was shared with Dr. Nurdiyana bt Ahmad Denil and Dr. Shiamala Devi Ramaiya (UPM Bintulu Campus), Dr. Rozihan Mohamed (Faculty of Agriculture), Dr. Sheena Bidin (Faculty of Forestry), Dr. Ahmad Nasir Mohd Yusoff (Faculty of Human Ecology), and Dr. Yusmadi Yah Jusoh (Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology).
Two more silver medals went to LAr. Owen Yeo Thian Seng, a senior lecturer at UPM Bintulu Campus, for his project Gamification Approach in Teaching Precision Agriculture and Dr. Shiamala Devi Ramaiya, a senior lecturer at UPM main campus, for her project Immersive Learning through Role Playing in Biology Education for Promoting Sustainability.
Three more bronze medals went a senior lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Nur Izah Ab Razak (A New Approach using Augmented Reality Visualization to Improve Teaching & Learning of the Anatomy & Physiology of Cardiac Cycle project), a senior lecturer in Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Puteri Suhaiza Sulaiman (A Cross-device and Cross-platform Virtual Reality Learning (ViReL) Space to Promote Immersive Learning Experience) and a senior lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Khadijah Mohd Nor (BodyTravelApp: An interactive Ear Anatomy Virtual Reality (VR) Mobile Application for Medical Students).
Also participating in the IUCEL 2019 were a senior lecturer from the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Rozihan Mohamed (iARPA: An Interactive Augmented Reality Book for Teaching and Learning of Principles of Aquaculture Course) and a student from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, Muhammad Shuhaily Mohd Jasmany (AR - My Endangered Species).
