KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 9 – Three Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students have received the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarships (BYDPA) here.
KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin AlMustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah conferred the scholarship for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level to a student from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), UPM, Mogesh a/l Sababathy, who specialised in clinical health (stem cells).
Besides that, the YDPA awarded the scholarships for the Master's level to Nur Amirah Syafiqah Salman, who specialised in agro-science, and Nur Aina Izzati Mohd Mokhtar, who specialised in analytical chemistry.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, hoped the acceptance of BYDPA by the three UPM students would be an example and inspiration to other UPM students.
“This scholarship will directly help the students from the finance aspect in order to be more focus in achieving academic excellence,” he said.
He also congratulated the three UPM students who successfully received BYDPA and succeeded in driving excellence in their respective fields of study in line with the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025 Goal 1 — To Produce Resilient Graduates in Facing Future Challenges.
Meanwhile, BYDPA was first introduced in 2006, and the recipients are given sponsorship for studies at local research universities and world-leading universities in the fields of science & technology, economics, law, and Islamic finance. -UPM
