SERDANG, MARCH 24 -Despite suffering from atopic eczema, which causes dry, itchy and cracked skin, it did not stop Vanessa Lee, 24, from graduating and receiving her scroll in Bachelor of Animal Science at the 45th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony today.
When explaining the disease she was suffering from, Vanessa said it was a severe category of eczema, and her skin was sensitive to hot, dusty, and dirty conditions.
The biggest challenge faced by this graduate from the Faculty of Agriculture throughout her studies, apart from the skin disease she faced, she also often lost motivation, but she managed to overcome the matter.
Previously, her dermatologist had informed her that the study programme she enrolled in was not suitable for her sensitive skin condition, but she took up the challenge because she was interested in the programme.
"I admitted my skin hurts a lot whenever I had to do fieldwork during my studies, but it was a fun experience, and I appreciated it," she said.
For her, with her skin disease, it was a huge achievement for her to successfully graduated, especially with the affection she had for animals.
On success tips, Vanessa said she always does something that suits her.
The Sabah born also said she often revised whenever she could and shared knowledge on the subjects she did not understand with her friends.
Planning for the future, Vanessa stated that she would like to work with the government as she was a PSD (Public Service Department) sponsored student before this.
