By Faiz Hamzah

SERDANG, Dec 10 – A student from the Faculty of Agriculture Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Muhammad Izzuddin Rosli, has been chosen as the next president for the student representative council (MPP) session 2018/2019.

Muhammad Izzuddin received a symbolic appointment letter from UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris, during the Handover of Letter of Appointment and Appreciation of MPP UPM 2018/2019 Session Ceremony which was held at the 6th College, UPM. Also present was Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman.

In her speech, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris, urged each member of the student representative to play his/her role as a student liaison effectively and professionally.

“Each member of the student representative council surely appreciates every vote received and the trust given by the students to carry out the mandate as a new member of the student representative council. It is my hope that everyone works together in fulfilling his or her responsibility,” she said.

A total of 45 students who made up the new members of the MPP for the 2018/2019 Session took their oath during the ceremony.

The Vice President of UPM Student Representative Council UPM, Mohd Hafizudeen Mohd Zaidi; the Secretary-general of UPM Student Representative Council, Iffa Nadhira Mohd Hazanol; and the Treasurer of UPM Student Representative Council, Chow Heng Yee also received their appointment letters during the ceremony.

The selection of UPM Student Representative Council for the 2018/2019 session witnessed a new approach in its implementation as it is fully organised by students from Student Volunteers, student leaders, clubs and associations, KOR SUKSIS and KOR SISPA.

Muhammad Izzuddin said he hopes that the Student High Council (MTM) from each college and student representatives from each faculty will continue to cooperate in order to ensure the welfare of the students.

“No matter how great you are as a leader, if you don’t have the support and assistance from the people around you, your organisation will not be able to reach its full potential”, he said.

Therefore, he said, students and members of the student representative council (MPP) need to have a good relationship that will lead to greater bonding between them.

“This way, students will feel closer to the members of the student representative council (MPP) and other student representatives such as the Student High Council (MTM) and Faculty Student Association (PMF) so that we can increase our visibility and make it easier for students to channel in information or issues apart from becoming an icon or a good example from UPM,” he said. - UPM
