SERDANG, March 23 – Both husband and wife, Mohd Shahrul Nizwanshah and Tuan Syaripah Najihah, have successfully graduated together at the 45th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony today.
The couple who have been married for five years are the children of overwhelmed settlers. They finally completed their studies at UPM and set foot on the convocation stage despite various challenges faced.
Mohd Shahrul Nizwanshah said each student's learning experience is different, including himself, because he spent most of his time in the laboratory working with molecular materials.
“Unlike my wife who spent a lot of time on the farm, and all her efforts paid off when she was awarded the Outstanding Student Award for Faculty of Science 2021,” he said.
He is currently focused on becoming an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer after completing his Master of Science (Plant Biotechnology) at the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS).
Apart from that, Tuan Syaripah Najihah, 31, successfully graduated on time in the field of PhD in Agricultural Technology and now works as a lecturer at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA).
“I am grateful to have a partner who understands the challenges of studying,” he said.
The couple also shared tips with UPM students who grapple with their studies. They should set their goals clearly and be highly motivated while appreciating the support of their dear ones. -UPM
