Hotel Place2Stay @The Mines KUPUTRA officiated

SERDANG, Nov 27 - Hotel Place2Stay @ The Mines which is located opposite the Serdang KTM station was officiated today. It is fully-owned by Universiti Putra Malaysia Berhad Cooperative (KUPUTRA).

The disabled (OKU) friendly hotel has a capacity of 28 rooms and can be booked from RM50 to RM150 per night. It was officiated by Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Wira Dr. Mohd Hatta Md Ramli.

It is ideal accommodation for those who wish to spend the night on work assignments, meetings and for the purpose of studies at educational institutions around Seri Kembangan, Serdang and Putrajaya.

 

Among the basic facilities available are elevator, prayer room and free Wi-Fi. Also, public transportation system such as commuters, buses and taxis that are close to the hotel makes connection and transportation convenient.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Datuk Wira Dr. Mohd Hatta said the KUPUTRA initiative to venture into the hotel industry could give a good return in the current business environment.

"The ministry is willing to assist this cooperative as it has been diligent in strengthening its entrepreneurship and has more than 2,000 members. This is a great achievement to be proud of,” he said.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris congratulated KUPUTRA for its success in securing the Place2Stay @ The Mines franchise.

She said this business of managing the Budget Hotel can provide lucrative returns to the cooperative, and it a tourism sector that is given emphasis in the National Cooperative Policy.

Hotel Place2Stay @ The Mines has achieved 71% Occupancy Rate in one year of its operation.

"As a new business activity, the achievement has the potential to be elevated to a higher level,” she said.

Also present were UPM Cooperative Board Member, Dr. Dasrilsyah Syahrial and Executive Vice Chairman, Malaysian Cooperative Commission, Meriam Mat Nor. - UPM
