SERDANG, March 24 – Hearing impairment did not stop Nurfarahana Mohamad Ardi, 22, from attaining a Diploma in Agribusiness at the 45th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony today.
Regarding tips for success, she often motivated herself to believe that she could do what others could. She often studied with her friends, and she was grateful that they were helpful.
"For me, my proudest achievement is when I managed to finish the diploma within the stipulated time because I did not expect to reach here," she said.
Among the challenges faced by Nurfarahana included not being able to mix with other students due to communication difficulties and feeling that they might not be interested in interacting with her.
"A sweet memory while being at UPM Bintulu Campus is when I was able to stay in a college far from my hometown as this was an opportunity for me to be independent," she said.
Among the study tips she shared, making brief notes by writing the main points neatly will definitely help.
Regarding her future, the graduate from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities said she would like to focus on getting work experience. She is currently working as a cashier at a supermarket now before planning on her next move.
"Don't make weakness an obstacle for us to succeed", a motto held by this Melaka native.
"Always work on improving yourself and try various new things because the experience will help us grow," she said. - UPM
