KAJANG – A coalition of five faculty members from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised a visit to Al-Fikrah Care Centre in Kampung Sungai Sekamat Batu 12 1/2, Cheras, here, recently.
The welfare programme, managed by the Al-Fikrah Welfare Association Malaysia, was organised through a joint effort of lecturers from three departments, namely the Department of Multimedia (Dr. Hizmawati Madzi and Dr. Siti Khadijah Ali), the Department of Computer Science (Dr. Nor Azura Husin and Dr. Aziah Asmawi) and the Department of Computer Networking (Dr. Normalia Samian).
The main objective was to give donations in terms of food and money to the residents of the Al-Fikrah Care Centre and to have a friendly session with them by having some relaxing activities.
Chairman of the Al-Fikrah Care Centre Malaysia, Mohd Azmi Md Zin, said such visits were highly anticipated by the residents as the visits brought them joy.
He hopes that such good programmes and efforts will continue in the future.
At the event, a sum of RM704 donated by the general public was presented by the Programme Director, Dr. Nor Azura Husin.
The programme directly enhances UPM's image in particular as a university that balances spiritual and academic services in line with the motto 'With knowledge, We serve'.
At the same time, it forms the basis of relationship between the university and the community involved. - UPM
