SERDANG, May 24 - The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH), have exchanged a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for research on swine diseases in Malaysia, including the African Swine Fever (ASF).

MoA was exchanged between the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UPM, Prof. Dr. Nazamid Saari, and the Head of Animal Health of BIAH Malaysia and Singapore, Dr. Kam Kok Yen.

Prof. Dr. Nazamid Saari hoped the signing of the MoA would contribute to the progress of research in the existing and new swine diseases, thus maintaining the continuous monitoring efforts by FPV UPM in this industry.

“A strong collaboration between FPV and BIAH is very important in the swine disease research in Malaysia to ensure that the scientific research needs of the industry are met. We hope that the success of this collaboration will continue in the coming years”.

“BIAH has become a major global market leader in animal health research, vaccines and biopharmaceutical drugs. Forming a collaboration with research-based industries is a tradition that has been practised by UPM so that UPM can contribute to the society, animals and the environment,” he said.
