SERDANG, Jan 9 – A rugby athlete, Mohd Khairul Amrie Jafree, 26, has attained a Bachelor of Education (Physical Education), Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), at the 44th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony here.
According to him, his family had given him a lot of support and encouragement, especially his late mother.
"The death of his mother in 2017 due to diabetes had given him a big impact to be more persistent in seeking knowledge to achieve success in life," he said.
Mohd Khairul Amrie said that even though he came from a modest family, he studied very hard to complete his studies, and one of the biggest challenges was the financial aspect because his family supported his studies at the university.
"I need to spend money carefully in order to survive at the university, and I am grateful because I managed to get a Sports Scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education in the second year of my studies," he said.
He added that the Physical Education subjects taught individuals about time management and discipline, and the time between classes or activities was very tight.
"My classes started from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, and the evening session was for training," he said.
He shared a piece of advice with UPM students that the key to overcoming all challenges in studies was the importance of time management and discipline.
Apart from that, he also represented Malaysia and obtained high achievements three times through the Asia Rugby Seven Series from 2016 to 2018.
In 2018, his last competition was in Hong Kong, and he successfully represented Malaysia.
He is expected to start working as an educator this April and is determined to be a dedicated educator and strive to produce athletes who are better than himself. - UPM
