Breaking fast and Terawih Prayer with UPM?€?s Royal Chancellor

SERDANG, 1 June – His Royal Chancellor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah presented Hari Raya contributions to 50 UPM students that included orphans, the underprivileged and converts and 6 UPM students who were the recipients of the Knowledge Wakaf Fund.

 

His Highness who is also the Sultan of Selangor, gave away the donations during a breaking fast event and Terawih Prayer with some 1,000 UPM residents and community at the UPM Mosque.

 

During the event, the Special Project Wakaf and the Wakaf Teratak Pak Ngah Atan contributions worth RM654,814.97 and RM350,000.00 were also given away by the Director of UPM Wakaf, Zakat and Endowment Management Centre (WAZAN), Dr. Razali Othman and by Dr. Hasnah Udin, respectively.

 

The event also saw the handing over of donations by university staff and members of the public towards the UPM Knowledge Wakaf Fund.

 

A donation of RM273,693.29 was also contributed by UPM Registrar Office which was represented by Dato’ Wan Azman Wan Omar while other representatives such as UPM Treasurer, Zulkiflee Othman and the Director of Pusat Islam Universiti, Mat Razi Abdullah gave away donations worth RM304,353.79 and RM347,701 respectively.

 

The Knowledge Wakaf is meant to facilitate UPM residents and alumni as well as the public in giving away donations based on a wakaf concept to help in the sponsorship of academic activities, research and knowledge development in UPM.

 

Meanwhile, the Chairman of UPM Holdings, Tan Sri Dr. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali also handed over a business tithe totaling RM101, 200 to UPM Holdings for the year 2017.

 

UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Ain Ideris had also given away an Ambulance Key Replica totaling RM241,356.80 to Dr. Fauziah Adnan who is the Chairman of the University Health Centre.

 

Meanwhile, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Anuwar Ali had presented a letter of commission to His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for his appointment as the Royal Fellow of Universiti Putra Malaysia. -UPM
