KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 - A book published by UPM Press titled Pembangunan Kontemporari Orang Asli won the Best Public Book award under Community category at the 2019 National Book Award ceremony. The writer of the book, Associate Professor Dr. Sarjit S. Gill, and the editor, Dr. Mohd Roslan Rosnon, were from the Faculty of Human Ecology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
They received plaques and certificates from the Minister of Federal Territories, Khalid Abdul Samad at the ceremony today. The Head of UPM Press, Kamariah Mohd Saidin was also present.
The National Book Awards is an annual event organised by the National Book Development Foundation to recognise and appreciate outstanding literary work by local writers. It also serves as an injection of encouragement to writers, publishers, book editors and designers throughout the country.
