SERDANG, Nov 17 - Despite being born as a special child with autism, Farah Raihanah Atan’s, 26, set an example for younger generation to earn a degree with her determination and courage.
Her deep interest in the English language has driven her to successfully complete her studies on time and receive a Bachelor of Literature (English) scroll at the 43rd Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Putra Malaysia, here, today.
According to Farah Raihanah, the difficulty in speaking started since childhood. English is the language that she learned first, and she often communicates with her parents using the language.
“I am interested in the English language, and I prefer linguistics to literature as linguistic is more technical,' she said.
She made Helen Keller, a blind and deaf writer, as her source of inspiration. She also admired the story of Albert Einstein and acknowledged that maintaining a relationship with Allah is also a part of the recipe for success.
'I would like to advise everyone especially Muslims. Everything that we do must be with the intention for Allah Almighty because He alone is the most powerful, 'she said. - UPM
