90 young UPM PALAPES officers of 2023 celebrated at Regimental Dinner

BANGI, September 18 - A total of 90 Cadet Officers from the Reserve Officer Training Unit (PALAPES), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) have been celebrated at the Regimental Dinner 2023 held at Bangi Resort Hotel recently.

UPM Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and International, Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, said every certified PALAPES officer should carry out their responsibilities as leaders wholeheartedly and sincerely. He emphasised that leadership is not a privilege but a demanding responsibility filled with obligations.

"Leadership is not an advantage or splendour, but a sacrifice that requires hard work, genuine effort, as well as strategic planning and action.

“In short, leadership is a vessel for development, progress, well-being, and happiness in this world and the hereafter," he said.

Furthermore, he expressed admiration for the physical and mental resilience demonstrated by the young UPM PALAPES officers, who acquire military knowledge while fulfilling their responsibilities as UPM students.

Also present were UPM PALAPES Deputy Commander, Lt. Col. Dr. Muhammad Fadzil Repin @ Rebin, UPM PALAPES Chief Trainer, Major Azlan Shah Baharom, and UPM Sea PALAPES Coordinator, Lt. Cdr. Prof. Gs Dr. Mohd Hasmadi Ismail PSSTLDM.

Earlier, the 90 UPM PALAPES Cadet Officers received their certification from the Crown Prince of Kedah, Tengku Sarafuddin Badlishah Ibni Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, at the PALAPES UUM Parade Ground and the Mu’adzam Shah Hall, UUM. -UPM
