SHAH ALAM -The Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) contigent won second place in the Marching Category and Best Banner Category at the Selangor State Maulidur Rasul Celebration on November 20th.
A total of 45 contingent members consisting of Academic Staff Association, Administrators Association, KEPERTAMA, PERMATA, University Islamic Centre, Associate of the UPM Mosque and UPM student representative took part in the parade, which was led by UPM Islamic Centre Director, Haji Mat Razi Abdullah.
The parade from Shah Alam Stadium to Melawati Stadium in Shah Alam, which is about 1.7km in distance, started at 7.30 a.m. and ended at 9.30 a.m.
The UPM contingent carried a banner with the theme of 'Blessed Are Those Who Care for The Ummah', as well as the flags of Malaysia, Selangor and UPM. The preparation was done with briefings and marching training for six days.
The marching training was guided by a UPM Sultan Abdul Samad library staff, En. Azhar Abdul Rahman.
