SERDANG, July 11 – Concerned over the mental health and online learning issues, the Chapter Alumni YOSH UPM has taken the initiative to hold a casual talk session, Coffee Talk with UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman.

The Vice-Chancellor’s casual talk session with the UPM students was entitled ‘Pecutan Akhir Peperiksaan’ (The Exam Final Sprint). The main objective of this programme was to lift the spirits of students who will face the Final Examinations of Semester II, Academic Session 2020/2021.

Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan said the most important thing for students during this COVID-19 pandemic was to take care of their health, adapt quickly to situations and get out of problems wisely, including those related to stress.

The Coffee Talk Programme: Pecutan Akhir Peperiksaan, Kejayaan Milik Anda! (The Exam Final Sprint, Success is Yours!) was a collaboration with the Gerakan Pengguna Siswa UPM, Kelab Al Huda UPM, Kelab Penyayang UPM, Scuba Club UPM, and Faculty of Educational Studies Students’ Association (FEDSSA), UPM.

The Chapter Alumni YOSH UPM advisor, Dr. Mohd Mursyid Arshad, advised students to stay positive in facing the final exams even though they will be conducted online.

“Students need to have high resilience in facing challenges in this uncertain world, especially in the current pandemic,” he said.

Nurul Athira Moh Affandi, student of Master of Agricultural Science, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM, said the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted students' academic and emotional management.

“Usually, the level of stress or pressure experienced by students increases when the exam season arrives. Students who experience stress can be pushed towards a positive or negative direction,” she said.

Nur Fatihah Jakfar, student of Bachelor of Agriculture (Animal Sciences), Faculty of Agriculture, UPM, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and YOSH UPM for caring about the student situations.

“I am more motivated and want to be a more positive student to be able to adapt to the current educational challenges to achieve greater academic success,” she said. - UPM
