SERDANG, Oct 5 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised Majlis Bersama Pemimpin Negara (an event with national leaders) last night with Selangor Chief Minister, Dato’ Amirudin Shari to nurture students’ interest in leadership and awareness of current issues.
UPM’s Vice Chancellor, Dato’ Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd. Sadullah stated that the programme aimed to expose and boost inspiration through the sharing of leadership and experiences by respected leaders and alumni.
"Dato' Amirudin’s insights in governing and leading in a challenging environment demonstrated his resilient character, which aligns with Goal 1 of the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025, Fostering Resilient Graduates to Face Future Challenges," he said.
An alumnus of the class of 2002, Dato’ Amirudin, advised students to seize opportunities, maintain a positive mindset, and exhibit leadership qualities toward the community.
"Student involvement in character-building activities builds versatile character and resilience to face future challenges, including unforeseen circumstances.
"Participation in student associations is also a good platform that will help students to develop leadership skills and instil a passion for learning," he said.
