SERDANG, 7 June – The Bicara Hati programme organised by the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has touched the hearts of UPM students to continue appreciating the gifts of senses they are blessed with since childhood.
The programme chairperson, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Wahiza Abdul What said through this programme, her objective to inspire students to be grateful for God’s gifts has been achieved.
“The message that we wanted to convey to the youngsters, especially the students of UPM, is to be inspired by the meaning of gratitude and contentment, with all the gifts granted by God. We brought three visually impaired (OKU) persons as panel members to motivate UPM students.
“Tonight, I am delighted to see the main hall filled with UPM students, and I am satisfied with the positive comments and messages of realisation from the viewers of the live broadcast on UPM Facebook page,” she said.
She said this after the programme at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS) UPM, last night.
Meanwhile, a student of Bachelor of Science in Food Manufacturing Operations, Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FSTM), UPM, Nur Syamiera Sharuddin said she is determined to work hard and is always grateful for everything that she has.
“I am grateful for everything that God has given me, especially my senses. I am deeply inspired to see the three visually impaired OKU panel members that are able to manage themselves well.
“I hope this boost of awareness and values such compassion, as well as empathy, will continue to be developed within UPM students,” she added.
The Bicara Hati programme was jointly organised by Yayasan Nur Inspirasi and Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB). – UPM
