Students of ?€?Bakti Siswa?€? organise the Entrepreneurial Literacy Programme

PORT DICKSON, Nov 23 – A total of 29 students of QKK2101 Bakti Siswa (Community Service), Group 6, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), together with the programme advisor, Mohamad Taufik Rahmat, has organised the Entrepreneurial Literacy Programme 2019 at Kampung Jawa Bukit Pelandok for the first time here.

The programme, officiated by the State Assemblyman for Chuah, Yek Diew Ching, is a side programme to share knowledge on entrepreneurship, marketing and technology, mathematics, environmental awareness, and cultures of different races.

Head of the Community Management Council of Sawah Village, Bukit Pelandok, Imran Worsono, said the programme offered benefits to villagers through the exposure on entrepreneurship and provided meaningful experience to students.

He added that the programme also introduced the culture and Javanese tradition to the community, especially students.

To achieve the main objective of the programme which was to open people’s mind on how to leverage resources to start an entrepreneurial life, a talk on entrepreneurship and knowledge sharing on e-commerce was presented by a Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM, Dr. Arnida Abdullah.

Among the activities held were environmental exhibition, colouring contest, free market, great mathematics mind, sports, games for children and adults, and visits to asnaf families to help the less fortunate in Jawa Village, Bukit Pelandok by giving them daily necessities.

From the Multicultural Night, the students were able to recognise the culture and tradition of difference races through Sumazau dance, Bollywood dance, singing performance from international students from China, and exciting performance prepared by the students and the village community.

The activity of ‘Rewang Mahabbah’, enabled students to gain an understanding of the Javanese tradition during wedding ceremonies. - UPM
